apple 81 - a johor wedding in sg. petani.

It's Sunday, 15th March. The groom is coming and the bride sits aimlessly in her bedroom waiting. she is bored. not quite the usual feeling a bride will experience. another 10 minutes and counting.she decides to wait downstairs. the crowd wasn't so full in the pelamin area. this is one of the most relaxed weddings i have been to. the bride isn't even anxious.

once he came, we heard kompang from a far. then it stopped. after a phone call, the family started to walk from the car park to the home entrance and the kompang continued. he was greeted by the bride and she bowed to kiss her husbands hand. the walk to her house was enlightened by the groom's father as he made jokes for the troop to walk faster. he was carrying one of the hantarans and it was kinda heavy, as he said. such a contrast to other newlyweds whom i have been the bridesmaid to. for others, the slower the better.

the wedding was done johor style. i didn't know that it was a tradition in johor to have coins thrown by the bride and groom to the crowd after the tepung tawar ceremony. children were collecting coins everywhere and it was fun.

and also this is the first time i have been to a wedding where teh tarik was served to the newlyweds and family, eating at the main table *wink*
